Sandee at Comedy Plus has bestowed upon me yet another award!
Mark from Me And My Drum, who created this badge has this to say, “This badge is for bloggers who make their blogs their own, stay with it, interact with their readers, and have fun!”
I now bestow the badge on:
Steven @ Get Your Blog On!
Desert Songbird @ The Ice Box
John @ Altjiranga Mitjina
and last but not least, our beloved Mo @ It’s a Blog Eat Blog Worldย
Present and future recipients of the award are encouraged to drop by HERE and pick their favorite flavor to copy and paste the code (intact) to their blogs. Now go out there and spread the love.
Blog Blast for Peace and Blogging and Peace and Places to Visit Blog Blast for Peace 9:09 pm
Most people are disappointed when they get a t-shirt… I’m thrilled by mine ๐ Thanks Mimi! I’ll be flying my globe proudly on November 7th. Find out how to participate in Blog Blast for Peace at Mimi‘s and maybe get your own lovely tee!
Since you can’t “see” Mimi’s lovely slideshow per se… here are my two contributions. (Psst! Can you tell I don’t have my Paintshop anymore and did it with Paint?) ๐
Blogging and Places to Visit Bloggers, Link Love 7:04 pm
Sandee at Comedy Plus has bestowed yet another honor on me… I don’t know how I’ll ever repay her!ย This award celebrates those who reach out and make the blogging world a better place.ย So, in this spirit, I tag the following bloggers who make my days a brighter place (and whom I visit daily!).
Altjiranga Mitjina ~ Comedy+ ~ Finding Zen ~ Get Your Blog On! ~ Still Life With Soup Can ~ The G-Bitch Spot ~ The Ice Box ~ Brotherhood 2.o
Blogging and Places to Visit Autopilot Technorati, Blogging, favorites, Technorati 8:28 pm
Again, I was visiting Sandee at Comedy Plus (thank goodness she’s retired and can find this great stuff for us!) and she let us know about this wonderful thing that she found about called Autopilot Technorati. You know, it’s always nice to be nice and repay favors. With this program you automatically add those who have favorited you on Technorati, that’s right AUTOMATICALLY! You don’t have to do anything except download the program. How neat is that?
Here’s Sandee’s post with info on how to get the program.
Life in general and Places to Visit and School and Teaching and The Books and Travel and Writing GNOWP, National Writing Project, NCTE, teaching conferences 5:24 pm
I am so excited.ย I never travel… ever.ย The last real vacation I had was my honeymoon (and I’m about to celebrate my 13th anniversary!) and those Ivan and Katrina evacuations had hotel stays with pools… so I guess you can count those if you want.ย So, my only form of travel ever comes in the way of conferences.ย Now– most people would groan at the thought of going out of town for a conference and sitting in meetings all day.ย But, you’re looking at a bonafide geek here.ย C’mon, I have 117 graduate hours for what… it sure doesn’t increase my pay.ย So, I’m ecstatic that I got selected to represent the Greater New Orleans Chapter of the National Writing Project at the National Council of Teachers of English Conference in NYC.ย Woot!
Just a small list of the authors and presenters that I will get to hear…. Johnathon Kozol, Jerry Spinelli, Allen Say, Dave Barry, Lucy Calkins, and Ishmael Beah.ย Wow, I am such a lucky lady.ย It’s the Wednesday through Sunday before Thanksgiving, so as a bonus I get an extended holiday break! ๐
Blogging and Places to Visit 8:20 pm
Thanks to Sandee at Comedy+ for nominating me for the I Love Your Blog Award AND the Blogging Star Award!!! I know I’ve been a major slacker when it comes to blogging lately. All I can say is look at my post about back to school and maybe you’ll understand why ๐
Anyway, thanks a ton Sandee. I do still visit her blog, especially on those days when I have had ENOUGH of my kids and need a lighthearted joke to cheer me up. I suggest you do the same!
I’ll wear my badges with honor.
I think I’m supposed to pass the love. But, I’m so behind on even posting my award that probably everyone I would nominate has already been awarded. If not, and you haven’t, then CONGRATS! I love your blog and You’re a Blogging Star!!! Snag your award ๐
Boredom and Places to Visit and The Books 8:10 pm
While visiting Chris (He does the Dine for Life in Seattle) over at My 2 Cents I found this neat little quiz,
Which book are you? So, my results are one of the only Vonnegut books I haven’t read… hmmm, need to get this one:
You’re Mother Night!
by Kurt Vonnegut
Nobody knows what to believe about you, and you know least of all. You
spent most of your time convinced that the ends justify the means, but your means were,
well, downright mean! And the end is nigh. Meanwhile all you want is to travel back in
time, if not to change, then to just delight in the way it used to be. You are who you
pretend to be. Oh yes, you’re the great pretender.
Take the Book Quiz
at the Blue Pyramid.
Boredom and Funny and Life in general and Places to Visit and Travel 7:42 am
I popped in on Donna over at The Ice Box and she had this little quiz which said she should be vacationing at the beach, so I decided to check out where my ideal vacation spot is. Well, being that I haven’t had a vacation since my honeymoon 12.5 years ago (aside from trips to conventions for work and the occasional evacuation or two *thanks Katrina and Ivan*) I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere anytime soon, but here are my results.
You Should Spend Your Summer in the Mountains |
![]() You’re quiet, introspective, and a great thinker. You need a summer vacation that gets you away from the crowds and the heat. So retreat to the mountains, where you can clear your head. |
Blogging and Places to Visit 8:11 pm
It’s blogging nomination time. I wanted to be nominated something, anything in high school, but alas it wasn’t for me. So, Kailani is hosting the elections for a second chance for those of us who couldn’t compete with the popular kids ๐
There are the following categories:
Visit Kailani at An Island Life for more info.
Life in general and Music and NOLA and Places to Visit and Travel 5:52 pm
They announced the lineup for the Voodoo Music Experience this weekend. I haven’t been in probably five or six years, but let me tell you, I KNOW where I will be on October 26, 27, & 28!!! If you can make it into NOLA, this is the time to do it. Tickets for all three days (WITH in and out privileges) are going on sale this weekend for $100. Now, where today can you see a lineup like this for a mere $33.33 a day??
Visit the lineup here and salivate along with me…
Christmas and Places to Visit 3:13 pm
Kailani posted about possibly starting a Christmas Card Exchange between blogging friends. I’m totally up for it. If you email me your address, I’ll do the same. I’d love to get “real” mail from around the country. My kids would think it’s so cool.
If you’re looking to have some Christmas Cards made, look to my good friend Lisa over at Lil’ Duck Duck.ย She does some GREAT work! Have a peek here, here, and here at some of her samples. Tell her NOLA sent ya! ๐
Dads and Places to Visit 1:10 pm
Kailani over at Pink Diary is Celebrating Dads. Pop on over and tell your heart-warming stories.
